On this four days course you learn enough to be able to start exploring glaciers!

About the hike

On this course you will learn all basics to be able to hike on glaciers. Both snow covered glacier and blue ice. Topics like, how to plan you tour, how to use all safety equipment/glacier gear, how to rescue your friend from a crevasse, orientation on a glacier, first aid and so on. All instructors are dedicated and want to share their passion and knowledge about glaciers. We as company are member of "Norsk Fjellsportforum" (NF) and this basic glacier course are NF approved, and will qualify you for further education in the NF system.

Åsmund

Åsmund has been working on the glacier since he was 14 years old, this is long enough to have seen the glacier actually were growing in the 90's. Fascination for this landscape never stop and he has realized Folgefonna will be in his heart rest of his life.

Hans Bertin

From his kitchen-window, he has a direct view to Folgefonna. Being a local, who loves the mountains, glaciers, forests and fjords, it has been a dream to have Folgefonna as a worksite for more than 15 years.

Jens

Educated in sport and outdoor life. Jens is pedagogical, positive and experienced outdoor enthusiast. He loves to teach and guide people in different environments. He is passionate about sharing the joys of experience new places with other. Top priority on the glacier is safety and creating moments that will last for a long time.

Jørgen

Fascinated by water in all its forms, and how this element shapes life and nature. Has a special preference for Norwegian mountains, valleys and fjords which makes Folgefonna the perfect workplace. Loves being outdoors, exploring and telling stories.

Julian

Julian has been grown up with Folgefonna. He simply love to show the guest the best of Folgefonna, he find great routes in the blue ice and are probably one of the best guides we have to find new ice tunnels!

Lars Petter (LPJ)

Lars Petter has one bachelor’s degree in Outdoor Leadership and just finished his second in nursing. At the same time, he works as a photographer and therefor almost all ways bring his camera on big and small adventures. What better combination of professions could you ever wish for when searching for a guide?

Lars Petter (LPL)

Trønder who fell in love with the mountains in Western Norway and the area around Folgefonna, and thus did not return since. Thrives in steep terrain both summer and winter. Always positive.

Laurits

Laurits have a bachelors degree in Outdoor life from the university of southern Norway, he is now studying to be a paramedic. He wants to give you a memorable time on the glacier in the safest way possible.

Rasmus

Educational background from University of South east Norway in outdoor life. He has a good overview for both glaciers and outdoor life in general. He has a good eye for details and safety. He has a passion for delivering a good outdoor experience and good customer service.

Thorbjørn

Thorbjørn has a broad background and has, among other things, an education from Bø University College in outdoor life. He is a safe and good guide, good at organizing and often has the daily responsibility for all the guides.

Vilde

Educated with a bachelor's degree in outdoor life guidance from Bø. Vilde is local and was born and raised at the foot of Folgefonna. She likes long days outdoors with skis or crampons under the legs.
